There Are Only Three Digital Growth Strategies

It may seem self-evident, but, by definition, there are only three paths to digital growth:

  1. More new visitors
  2. More visits per visitor
  3. More page views/engagement per visit

That’s it.

If you don’t have focused strategies around each path, you can’t sustain growth.

Examples of Growth Strategies

More new visitors

  • Search (SEO/SEM)
  • Strategic partnerships
  • Advertising
  • Social Media/Sharing
  • Public relations/Outreach

Goal: Identify where your potential audience is — then approach them there.

More visits per visitor

  • Fresh content
  • Newsletters
  • Tools/Resources
  • Social Media
  • User interaction/recognition

Goal: Offer every type of user a compelling reason to return

More page views/engagement per visit

  • Multimedia — Slideshows, video
  • Content packages
  • Long-form content
  • Tools/Resources

Overall Goal: Offer every type of user a persuasive reason to engage deeper
